AmericanChecked has offered the Social Media Screening Report since 2017. The new Social Media Essentials Report includes only hits from the past three years instead of the standard seven years history and covers only the top five sites where 97% of the reportable hits are found. The sites include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest.

Companies that conduct social media reviews on potential candidates risk viewing protected class information that should not be considered in the hiring decision, opening up them up for potential lawsuits. By using a nationally accredited consumer reporting agency like AmericanChecked, only items that fall within four permissible categories are flagged and reported.
Hits that are flagged are considered to be in one of four reportable areas, including racism/intolerance, potentially violent behavior, sexually explicit conduct and potentially illegal behavior. The search takes between 24 – 72 hours to complete and provides a maximum of 10 hits per report.
